Celebrate the sights, sounds, and tastes of Ireland, Scotland, and Great Britain at the 2019 Dayton Celtic Festival. The festival offers plenty of food, beer, whiskey tastings, Celtic breakfast, Gaelic Mass, music, culture, a children's area, and four stages of continuous live entertainment. Rain or shine - lots of covered seating. Free admission. Parking available for $3 in the Main Street Garage at Main & Monument. Free RTA shuttle from Oregon District Garage. August 2 - Art in the City
Multiple locations throughout downtown Dayton; 5-9 p.m.
Celebrate downtown's rich collection of visual and performing arts and kick off a juried art show featuring local artists at the free Art in the City event! Visit pop-up art galleries placed in downtown businesses as part of a special two-week juried art show. Curated by The Contemporary Dayton, the show kicks off during the event on August 2 and runs through August 16. Also on August 2, help create a huge mosaic gem, stroll an Artisan Market, soak in art at several Party on the Patio locations, and enjoy live art demonstrations, poetry, music and theater performances, family fun, and hands-on art activities from more than 400 artists throughout downtown. Presented by the Downtown Dayton Partnership and Montgomery County, The Square Is Where features free live noontime entertainment in the heart of downtown on Courthouse Square. Dayton Metro Library celebrates the 100th anniversary of Ohio’s ratification of women’s right to vote with two fascinating exhibits at the Main Library. See the Suffragists: And They Persisted! Art Quilt Show in the 2nd floor gallery, featuring intricate fabric artworks depicting faces behind the Women's Suffrage Movement. In the Opportunity Space @ Patterson, see 19th Amendment: Towards Equality for All, featuring historical photos, speeches, and other documents from the library's Women's Suffrage Collection. The exhibits are on display during regular library hours and are free and open to the public.

Thru August 30 - Exhibit: Abstracts: Old & New
Fifth Third Center lobby, 1 S. Main St.; during building open hours.
Fifth/Third Center is presenting abstract paintings by Yellow Springs artist Christine Klinger in their Lobby Gallery; additional artwork can be seen on the second floor, Christine’s style is intuitive and expressionistic and her themes deal with issues of the natural world and, specifically, water and our vital connection with it.
