The beginning of every month starts with a bang in downtown Dayton. First Friday is a free art hop featuring exhibit openings at the galleries, along with a variety of entertainment options, arts demonstrations, live music and more. Add to that everything going on at the restaurants, bars, nightclubs, theaters, comedy club, movie theater and more that make up the downtown mix, and you have plenty of reasons to get out and about on First Friday! In suburban Massachusetts in the mid-1980s, thirty-something-year-old Josephine Rosen has a dead-end job as a secretary and still lives at home with her hypochondriac mother. She started college but never finished, and has settled into a life that doesn’t offer much hope for the future. But when a new friendship at work and a chance flirtation with an old classmate give her hope for the possibility of change, she dusts off the Jane Fonda tapes and begins to take tentative steps towards a new life. Sound the Alarm
This spring, join fellow Red Cross volunteers in more than 100 communities across the country to Sound the Alarm, a home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event. During this nationwide home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event, volunteers across the country will install 100,000 free smoke alarms in high risk neighborhoods in over 100 cities. In The Dayton Area, we have made over 3000 homes safer and together with volunteers across the country we have saved over 520 lives. We are counting on volunteers like you! Here is how you can help: Visit www.soundthealarm.org to register today and commit to joining 35,000 volunteers across the country to make homes safer by installing smoke alarms, replacing alarm batteries and helping families create escape plans.

Link Bike Share stations throughout Downtown Dayton.
Can you ride a Link Bike every day in May? To count as a trip, participants can check out a bike from any station for at least 2 minutes. Every participant will be given 1 grace day, or 1 day they are allowed to miss and still be in the competition. T-shirts will be given to any participant that completes the whole month.
