The Downtown Dayton Summer Music Series kicks off this Sunday with the Dayton Jazz Festival, now at Levitt Pavilion Dayton! This free concert features several live bands, along with many food and merchandise vendors. Blankets and lawn chairs welcome. Sorry, no tents, coolers, umbrellas, pets, grills, outside food and/or beverages allowed. Scheduled performers include The Next Phaze, the Brian Cashwell Trio featuring Pamela Mallory, JT Frederick's Saxgrooves, Sandra Rutledge and Friends, and the Eddie Brookshire Quintet featuring Brenda Flowers. Free admission. The Summer Music Series will continue with the Dayton Blues Festival on July 14, the Dayton Funk Festival on August 11, and the Dayton Reggae Festival on September 1. Third Perk is hosting this art exhibit produced by The African American Visual Artists Guild. A 24-month calendar depicting each of the churches along with an artist’s statement about themselves and the church is available for a $20 donation. It can be purchased at the venue or via the website at aavag.org. The Dayton Jewish Film Festival offers outstanding world cinema that promotes awareness, appreciation and pride to the diversity of the Jewish people and to the community at large. Kathryn is a printmaker and long time member of Dayton Printmakers Co-op. She works in intaglio, woodcut, linocut, dry point, monoprint, and screenprinting. Her compositions exhibit delicate details, abstraction and sometimes ambiguity. She has exhibited locally, regionally and internationally. Carol will be displaying her art as well. She is a potter, creating whimsical and seasoned utilitarian pieces. She will also be showing her exquisite hand woven scarves.
