Water Street District Celebrates Newest Additions

Mike Colvin Fast Facts

Two major real estate projects are now open in the Water Street District with another set to open later this month. The Sutton, the Monument, and the AC Hotel by Marriott are three of 10 properties developer Crawford Hoying has built near Day Air Ballpark since 2012 and represent part of a $200 million real estate investment in the area. The Sutton and the AC Hotel by Marriott are now open and the Monument is expected to open in late March. Executive Vice President of Design and Development for Crawford Hoying, Russell Hunter, says excitement about these downtown projects has been building for years.

“You want to work somewhere where people want you there and sometimes development and architecture isn’t always that way, right?” Hunter said in a conversation with WHIO. “This is a place where everyone has genuinely been excited about what we are doing and welcomed us with open arms.”

The Sutton and the Monument bring a total of more than 200 new housing units to downtown’s core. The AC Hotel by Marriott includes 134 rooms and with a rooftop restaurant and bar. That rooftop space, called the Foundry, is expected to open later this spring.
