The Downtown Dayton Sidewalk Sale returns in May for outdoor retail and entertainment

Mike Colvin DDP Press Releases

More than 40 downtown retailers, restaurants, cafes and artisan vendors will line the streets

April 27, 2021 (DAYTON, Ohio) … The Downtown Dayton Partnership (DDP), along with more than 40 small businesses and locally-owned restaurants, will continue to take advantage of spring sunshine to expand outdoors for the May 8 Downtown Dayton Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, May 8, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Downtown Dayton Sidewalk Sale in May is the perfect time to treat the special mothers in your life to a day of shopping and dining in downtown Dayton for an early Mother’s Day celebration. Or celebrate a local grad with a day on the town! Brick and mortar retailers and restaurants will be open, and additional artisan vendors and entertainment will be filling the sidewalk space in front of businesses for this special event.

The open-air experience will take place throughout the streets of downtown Dayton, and guests are invited to explore the entire footprint of the Sidewalk Sale, where they will find special attractions lining the pavement in front of their favorite downtown establishments.

Retailers will have merchandise for sale displayed in front of their storefronts.

Downtown eateries will offer take-away food and drink specials for guests to enjoy while they stroll, and also invite guests to dine and drink on their patios.

Roving entertainers, including acoustic musicians and street magicians, will be out on the streets.

Local artisans will be selling items from booths along downtown’s pedestrian thoroughfares.

Free activities and treats: Free activities at K12 Gallery and TEJAS studios and a free treat giveaway from BBA Cafe will be available for guests to enjoy. See full details on the Sidewalk Sale website.

A map of the May Downtown Dayton Sidewalk Sale and a complete list of participating businesses and their special offerings during the event will be updated at www.downtowndayton.org/sidewalksale. Guests can also get reminders of Sidewalk Sale specials and promotions by clicking “attend” on the sale’s Facebook event here.

“Whether you’re bringing Mom down for shopping, lunch or a treat, or if you’re coming just for yourself – the Sidewalk Sale is a way for you to enjoy the outdoors and support our small businesses in downtown Dayton” said Sandra K. Gudorf, president of the DDP.

This series of spring Sidewalk Sales continues, and you can save the date for the final springtime Downtown Dayton Sidewalk Sale on Saturday, June 5.

Extending storefronts onto sidewalks is also an effort to create more room for guests while they shop, dine and explore downtown Dayton. Guests are reminded that social distancing is in place in downtown Dayton, with masks required upon entry to retailers and restaurants and when six feet of distance between groups cannot be kept.
