Oregon East District Enters Next Phase of Project

Mike Colvin Downtown Progress, Downtown Projects, Fast Facts

New details emerged earlier this month regarding the next phase of development in the Oregon East district. The first phase of development included the completion of the Wheelhouse Lofts apartments, along with Speakeasy Yoga and Troll Pub at The Wheelhouse. Work is also now underway to redevelop the Dayton Motor Car Building into office space. City officials now say that the $120 million project will include such features as a parking garage and a hotel. More than 730,000 square feet of development is planned, including more than 250 residential units, office space, entertainment venues, dining options, and a 110-room hotel. A parking garage would eliminate current surface parking lots, allowing them to be redeveloped for other uses, while increasing parking availability and creating jobs. Weyland Ventures, the developer behind the Wheelhouse project, is slated to partner with the City of Dayton on this mixed-use project.
