Vaniti Byrd began to think about what was in her skincare products after the birth of her now-three-year-old daughter, and out of that sprung her all-natural skincare line, Baba Love Organics. The products in the line are ethically sourced and handcrafted locally in small batches using raw and organic ingredients. After pitching her products and winning a Launch Dayton grant in 2019, she has grown her business and now has signed a lease to occupy 1,500 square feet at 116 W. Fifth Street. As part of preparations to open her store, Byrd is also crowdfunding a KIVA loan to purchase equipment to grow her production capacity. A planned grand opening of the downtown storefront is scheduled for early this summer.
