Rediscover Downtown Events!
As we begin to safely resume gathering and rediscovering all the great things downtown has to offer, we’re especially excited to get back to all the fun events we’ve missed so much!
There’s always something fun going on downtown! Below you’ll find a list of events scheduled for today. Use the filters at the top to find events by date, keyword, and more. You can also view the calendar by month or as a list of 20 events at a time.
Have an event to submit to our calendar? If it is located downtown (within our service area) and open to the public, it’s likely we’ll include it. Send us your event info using our event submission form.

Daytonians from every corner of the city and throughout the Miami Valley are invited to the 2019 Longest Table Dayton event: The Longest Picnic Blanket!
On June 15th, 2019, the Longest Table Dayton will come to life in a new and exciting format. You are invited to pack your picnic basket and take a seat at the Longest Picnic Blanket stretching across the lawn at Levitt Pavilion! When you arrive, you’ll be randomly assigned to a small group of people you’ve probably never met. You’ll enjoy your picnic together over a gently-guided conversation meant to connect and inspire. As 7pm approaches, we’ll wrap up the meal and enjoy a FREE Levitt concert!
Unlike past Longest Table events, we’re asking that you pack your own meal. It will allow maximum time for the conversation and it’s a fun conversation starter! We’ll have a supply of bagged picnic meals for anyone who forgets or who doesn’t otherwise have access to a good meal that day.
A little history:
The Longest Table is a community project that was launched by UpDayton in 2016 as part of the UpDayton Summit. In October 2016, hundreds of Daytonians came together at a dinner table the length of the Third Street bridge. It was packed with strangers who wanted to break bread with their neighbors and meet someone new. Longest Table meals challenge participants to re-think their assumptions about other parts of town and the people who live there.
Throughout 2017 and 2018, the Longest Table team worked with neighborhoods and community centers to keep the conversation going including a second giant table stretching across the Third Street Bridge. More than 600 people were part of the table. In 2019, the Longest Table will be a giant picnic stretching across the lawn at Levitt Pavilion!
The project is made possible by a City of Dayton Neighborhood Mini Grant. The project is led and powered by volunteers.
