The Main Dayton Metro Library resumes its tradition of hosting live musical performances each Friday between the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. Bring your lunch, a book, or a friend and enjoy a free musical interlude in your day, Fridays, 11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. at the Main Library’s Eichelberger Forum, 215 E. Third Street, downtown.
November 29: Dayton Salsa Project – a fusion of musicians from different Latin American countries and the U.S. performs music that transcends language and cultural barriers.
December 6: Harmony of Japan – a Japanese Women’s Chorus led by Yasuko Brecht. Formed four years ago, this group enjoys performing popular, as well as traditional Japanese songs.
December 13: Miami Valley Klezmer Ensemble – Klezmer is traditional Jewish music from Eastern Europe that dates back to the 16th century. Originally used for wedding dances, today it is popular in concert.
December 20: Bright Moments Quintet – The Bright Moments Quintet is dedicated to promoting jazz education though performance, student workshops, and teacher clinics. The repertoire includes original compositions and jazz standards that reflect the great tradition of this American art form we call Jazz.
