Many historical narratives minimize the contributions of women in the Civil Rights movement. In two performances at the Dayton Metro Library, the acclaimed Dayton Contemporary Dance Company interprets the role of women in support of Martin Luther King’s enduring legacy. Both performances of DCDC’s Women Behind King take place in the Main Library’s Bassani Theater, 215 E. Third Street, and are free and open to the public; the earlier performance is intended for a teen audience.
Tuesday, Feb. 4, 4:30-5:30 p.m. – Teens are encouraged to stay after the performance for a talkback with the dancers.
Tuesday, Feb. 4, 7-7:45 p.m. – All ages are welcome.
Rooted in the African American experience, DCDC is a culturally diverse contemporary dance company committed to reaching the broadest audience through exceptional performance and arts-integrated education. DCDC has toured the world, dancing onstage for packed houses in Bermuda, Canada, Chile, China, France, Germany, Kazakhstan, Poland, Russia, and South Korea.
