The Dayton Independent Film Festival (hosted by the University of Dayton’s
Communication Department) is pleased to announce the third annual film festival event
highlighting Midwestern storytelling. After its establishment during the height of the 2020
pandemic, DIFF has utilized hybrid events to showcase Midwestern films epitomizing the
innovative and persevering spirit of Dayton. For its third year, DIFF returns in person to The
Neon movie theater to represent the Dayton film community from September 23-25. Tickets for
the festival are now on sale at $7 each and can be purchased at
www.daytonfilmfest.com/2022-program or www.neonmovies.com.
The 2022 festival will be sporting 23 short films from filmmakers across the Midwest, a quarter
of which hail from the Dayton area. The trailer can be viewed here:
This year, a record number of local and Ohio-based films were submitted to the festival. The
festival will showcase 5 blocks of short films. Many filmmakers will be in attendance and each
program is followed by a question and answer session. The full schedule can be found at
In addition to the 23 short films being screened, DIFF will also be welcoming a selection of
shorts from the local Stivers School for the Arts. The festival strives to support young filmmakers
and provide a platform for them to show their work and grow as artists.
