CINCINNATI OBSERVATORY PROGRAMS
At Dayton Metro Library Branches in JULY
(July 5, 2019) – Kids who are interested in space exploration can learn from experts at the Dayton Metro Library this summer. As part of the Library’s “Universe of Stories” Summer Challenge, DML is partnering with the Cincinnati Observatory to offer four fascinating, space-themed programs for kids and families. The free programs, “Stars & Constellations,” “Comets & Meteors,” “The Sun” and “Tour of the Universe,” will be offered at many different branch library locations throughout July. Children can count attendance at these programs toward their Summer Challenge goals.
“The Cincinnati Observatory is a great partner for our space-themed Summer Challenge,” said Julie Buchanan, Library Programming Manager. “Their presenters make space-related scientific concepts understandable and fun for kids.”
The Cincinnati Observatory Center is known as The Birthplace of American Astronomy. It was the first public observatory in the western hemisphere and it houses one of the oldest working telescopes. Recently restored, the Observatory is a fully functioning 19th century observatory used daily by the public and amateur astronomers.
The Library’s programs are free and open to children of all ages. For more information, visit DaytonMetroLibrary.org or call (937) 463-2665.
