A three-block section of Monument Avenue has been renamed Det. Jorge DelRio Way to honor a Dayton police officer killed in the line of duty in November 2019. Street signs for Detective Jorge DelRio Way were recently installed at the corner of Monument Avenue and Patterson Boulevard and the corner of Monument Avenue and Main Street in downtown Dayton. DelRio served on the Dayton Police Department for nearly 30 years and spent most of his career as a task force officer for the Drug Enforcement Administration. During the June 10 dedication ceremony, DelRio’s family members gathered with city and police officials, and told the crowd that DelRio would have been honored by the street sign.
