Construction Begins on Downtown Kitchen Incubator

Work is now underway on the 6888 Kitchen Incubator in the Dayton Arcade. The space at 32 S. Ludlow St. is expected to be transformed into a commercial kitchen and business incubator by late 2023. Local food and beverage entrepreneurs Charlynda Scales, Dabriah Rice, and Jamaica White are the minds behind the new project designed to help fellow food and beverage vendors strengthen their own businesses. The new space inside the Dayton Arcade will include a classroom, an event space, and a kitchen and bakery intended for training and use by members. Four rentable spaces will be available for vendors to sell their goods on-site.

The Kitchen Incubator will be developed in two phases. Applications are open now for the first phase, Sharpen the Axe, which will crucial business and restaurant skills to up to 50 entrepreneurs. The second phase will allow entrepreneurs to use market-rate rental spaces inside of the kitchen facility as they receive additional mentoring and business support.
