Local digital experience firm Mitosis is expanding from its 2,000-square-foot space in the Walker Building to a 6,000-square-foot space in the same building at 14 W. First St. The property owners and Mitosis owner Tyler Back said both entities are investing an estimated $1 million to renovate the building’s second floor. Mitosis has been at the Walker Building since 2015 when the company signed a short-term, below-market lease on the space as part of the pilot phase of the Activated Spaces Pop-Up Office program. Now the startup plans to grow into its new space, hiring between five and eight employees by the end of the year.
