May 31, 2019, DAYTON, Ohio — If there’s one thing history proves about Daytonians, when it comes to overcoming obstacles and facing adversity, this is one strong city. In response to a racist rally, the city rallied, demonstrating the power of love and acceptance. When it was clear this community could not be figuratively ripped apart by hate, severe weather showed up for a more literal test, and again, Daytonians stepped up to the challenge. This June 7 First Friday is an opportunity to come together once more, this time to celebrate Dayton’s compassion, grit, and determined spirit.
This First Friday, it’s time to return to local businesses who have collected donations, distributed food and water, and are always there to pitch in for fundraisers and other community initiatives. Shop, eat, dine, and be entertained by the hundreds of workers who count on patrons for their livelihoods. Snap a pic and share it with #ShopDaytonStrong to let small business owners know “we’re here for you, too!”
Getting to all the listed locations is easy with the help of the free Flyer shuttle buses operating until 11 p.m., connecting dozens of locations between RiverScape MetroPark and the University of Dayton. This First Friday, hop aboard the Flyer to take part in Flyer Game Night. Try a variety of live trivia and eclectic games played throughout the evening as guests hop on and off the free Flyer. Grab some friends and family to compete for a wide selection of prizes. Simply hop on the Flyer at any of the shuttle stops throughout Downtown, grab a seat, and enjoy this game night with a twist.
Relax from all the Flyer Game Night excitement and explore a new business. Now and Zen DIY Studio will host its grand opening event from 4-9 p.m. this First Friday! There will be free gift bags with air plants (while supplies last), giveaways, and 20% off workshop registration during opening weekend. Shop from their selection of air plants, terrariums, succulents, plant accessories, and so much more.
