Winners announced for the 2010 Downtown in Focus photo contest
A total of 209 photographs depicting Dayton's center city were entered in this year's Downtown in Focus, a photo contest aimed at finding new and distinctive shots of our downtown. Photographers from throughout the Miami Valley and beyond submitted 143 photos in the amateur division and 66 in the professional division. The Downtown Dayton Partnership, City of Dayton and Dayton Daily News sponsored the contest.
Congratulations to the winners:
- Best Light - unusual lighting perspectives, natural/artificial
- Downtown Alive - people/individuals enjoying downtown
- Spaces & Places - buildings and architecture
- Dayton Original - special award selected by Dayton City Commissioner Nan Whaley
Judges also selected 50 photographs as "Honorable Mentions." Most of those can be viewed on the Downtown Dayton Facebook page.
Best in Show winners each received a $250 cash prize. The City of Dayton honored the Dayton Original winner with a gift bag of Dayton Originals commemorative items.
Contest winners will be recognized at the September 10 Urban Nights, and their winning photos will be published in the Dayton Daily News.
All entries will be displayed in a special exhibit in the Kettering Tower lobby during Urban Nights.
