Fast Facts: Downtown Businesses Experiencing New Growth

Mike Colvin Fast Facts

Several downtown businesses recently have reported exciting growth, expansions, and other evidence of booming business:

  • Downtown law firm Taft announced it is merging with Minneapolis/St. Paul firm Briggs and Morgan. The region’s fourth-largest law firm, Taft is in growth mode according to partner Jennifer Hann Harrison, who foresees additional future expansion and build-out of Dayton operations. The Briggs merger is expected to take effect at the beginning of 2020.
  • Another law firm, Bruns, Connell, Vollmar & Armstrong LLC, will move from the Barclay building, 137 N. Main St., to the Stratacache Tower at 40 N. Main St. The firm will occupy 3,500 square feet on the building’s 20th floor. The move allows the firm to bring in a couple more attorneys, while clearing space from the Barclay building for a future boutique hotel.
  • One of downtown Dayton’s popular brew pubs is expanding. Dayton Beer Co. announced it will make several enhancements to the brewery at 41 Madison St., including a 2,400-square-foot rooftop bar, 3,500-square-foot private function/event space, 500-square-foot production distillery, and cocktail and coffee bar. The expansion will add around 15 to 30 jobs over a three-year period and is slated to be completed by spring 2020.
